Rick Marcum, a forty-one-year-old legal secretary has been dreaming about taking a trip across country. His vision includes taking pictures of the perfect sunrise and sunset. He has planned out museums, National Parks and major league baseball games along the way.

Rick agrees to let a friend of a friend come along. Sam Johnson, a thirty-eight-year-old police officer rides along. They have conflict, get to know each other and learn a lot about each other. In Minnesota they share their feelings and get close. In South Dakota, they separate. Will they get back together will they forever be apart?

Rick arrives to visit his sick dad. After driving all night, he hopes he is doing okay. after years of being estranged, they talk every day during the trip. After living separate lives, Rick is excited about seeing his brother and dad.

A short bio to get to know me
At 64 I am finding more time to put into my writing. I have been writing since I was in my twenties with a dream of putting a book together. I have written poems and short stories. In 2013, I semi-retired and moved to Rapid City to start a new life with a girl I knew in high school. We had not seen each other for 33 years. We reconnected and emailed and met a couple of times prior to get married. Once in Rapid City I started getting serious about writing again. I love to travel. Thinking about getting on the road, the idea of strangers in a truck came to me. I enjoy centering a plot around characters who are different from each other and their relationships.
